A Market Depth window, displaying the order levels for BHP

The Market Depth window provides a full overview of all visible orders in the market for a particular Asset.

Live Market Depth

Market Depth Icon To access the Asset Details, you can either enter the trading code of an asset in the Classic area of the Live Tab and select Details, or via the Asset Details icon on your Desktop Toolbar. You can also bring it up by clicking on the link displayed in a Live Search, WatchList or News Filter.

This window consumes 2 Session Points when used by a Dynamic Data subscriber, or one Static View per refresh when viewed by a Static Data subscriber.

Pause Button Market Depth is a dynamic window, updating every 5 seconds. Dynamic Data subscribers can pause the depth display by clicking the Pause button (shown left).

Clicking on an individual price point will expand it out, showing the individual orders and their position in the queue. Note that undisclosed or iceberg orders can make this information slightly inaccurate.

Go Button You can enter a trading code into the text box in the top right. Pressing Enter or clicking the Go button (shown left) will search for a matching asset. By default, an exact match will switch to that asset, but you can force a broader search by holding down Ctrl or Shift when pressing Enter or clicking Go. This will bring up a search window with matches against both code and name, letting you select the asset you desire.

Default Targeting

Window Menu If you would like this window to be the default target when you click an Asset Code inside a Live Search, WatchList or Portfolio Status, look to the menu.

Default Button From there, select the Make Default item. The default target will apply to all windows that are part of the Group.

Like all Single-Asset windows, Market Depth can receive any Asset in order to display its details. The purple bar is also a draggable object, allowing you to drag it onto any window that accepts an Asset - Asset Details, Course of Trades, Charts, or News Filters - as well as onto a WatchList or Portfolio Status that is showing a Like list.

The Market Depth toolbar icon is a draggable object. By dragging it onto any of the other Single-Asset windows, you can quickly bring it up targeted to the desired Asset.

Market Depth can also receive a dragged Asset Details, Course of Trades, Charts, or News Filters icon from the toolbar. If the window is docked, this will cause a new window to open with the dragged type, targeted to the Asset being displayed. If the window is floating, the Market Depth will be replaced by the type that was dragged.
